The San Francisco 49ers re-signed restricted free agent running back Jeff Wilson to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
Financial terms were not disclosed for the third-year player.
The undrafted free agent out of North Texas emerged as a force in the backfield this season amid myriad injuries to the 49ers' backfield. He rushed for a team-leading 600 yards in 12 games (three starts) and seven touchdowns and caught 13 passes for 133 yards and three more scores.
Wilson rushed for 371 yards in his first two years combined.
Wilson figures to have a significant role behind starter Raheem Mostert in 2021. Jerick McKinnon is not likely to return and Tevin Coleman is due to hit free agency.
