The Chicago Bears have declined their option on Bobby Massie, making the right tackle an unrestricted free agent, NFL Network reported Monday.
The move saves the team more than $5 million in cap space this season.
Massie, 31, started all eight games he played in last season but a knee injury cut it short. Massie ended the season on injured reserve. Massie had played 100 percent of the snaps in the Bears' first seven games.
Massie started every game he played in (64) for the Bears since joining the team in 2016. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft by Arizona, playing in 54 games (46 starts) for the Cardinals in four seasons.
Massie signed a four-year extension ahead of the 2019 season, earning $14.5 million in guaranteed money.
