DUBLIN, Ireland: Dozens of firefighters worked through the night on May 21 to control a huge fire at a major business in Donegal.
The fire started at the Cherrymore Kitchens factory in Lurganboy, near Donegal Town. The company said no staff were present at the time, and everyone is safe.
Around 58 firefighters from several Donegal Fire Service units responded to an emergency call at 10:45 pm. A water tanker was also brought in to help. A witness said flames could be seen coming from the roof of a warehouse.
Officials explained that the factory stored materials like wood, plywood, and chipboard, which made the fire more intense. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The main building, including offices and showrooms, was saved but sustained heavy smoke damage. The company said its Donegal Town site will stay closed while the damage is checked.
Cherrymore Kitchens thanked emergency services, a nearby business, and the local community for their support. Fire crews are still at the scene examining the damage.
The company employs about 70 people and is a well-known kitchen manufacturer in Ireland. Local business leaders said the fire is especially sad, as the company is celebrating its 30th anniversary and supports many families, and they promised to help in any way they can.
